
Institute of Radiation Safety and Ecology
The Institute of Radiation Safety and Ecology is located in Kurchatov and is a branch of the Republican State Enterprise National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The total area of the institute's territory is about 21 hectares. Currently, the Institute is located on the territory of the former sector 52605 and is housed in five laboratory and four administrative buildings. The main scientific direction of the Institute’s activities is a comprehensive study of the former Semipalatinsk Test Site (STS), the development and implementation of measures to normalize the radioecological situation in the territory of the STS and adjacent territories.
